Instructions
Apple Filling
Cutting around the core, peel and slice your apples thin.
Using a medium-low heat, add your apples into a pot with melted butter, tossing the apples so that they are entirely covered.
Add in your maple syrup, lemon juice, flour and apple pie spice.
As the apples begin to soften, add in your bourbon.
Oat Topping
Combine the old fashioned oats, flour, sugar, baking powder, spices, and melted butter in a bowl and thoroughly mix it all together.
Smoked Apple Crisp
Prepare your smoker as needed and preheat it to the temperature of 350°.
Using a 10" round pie baking dish grease the bottom and pour the apples in, covering the entire bottom of the dish evenly.
Cover all of the apples evenly with the oat topping.
With your smoker now maintaining a temperature of 350°, place your apple crisp into the center of the smoker and allow it to smoke for 45 minutes.
Once your crisp is done smoking, you'll will want to let it sit for about 15 minutes and then serve.
